Take the challenge

It’s the last few days before the election,  and the start of our Thanksgiving Challenge on November 17th. Every day I deal with people who are going to commit to eating right. No alcohol, show up on time, do extra cardio, the list is endless.   I know a man, who for no reason, committed to eating healthier and not drinking alcohol.  In a month he has dropped 13 pounds. Yes, that’s radical but he needed to. The last 5 pounds are the hardest. Whatever you decide to do, don’t procrastinate – do it. Sign up for extra workouts on Sunday. It’s marathon day! A good day to train indoors.   Best wishes, Maryann...

How to Break Out of Jail

You are stuck. That work situation, your personal life, you’re taking care of a relative, your eating pattern, or yes – your workout. It’s hard to break out of jail and stay out. You better forget that idea, you will get caught and go straight back in. Trying to make changes in a negative way never works for long term happiness. For your exercise and nutritional changes we treat it as if we signed up for AA. We admit it (yes that’s the first step!) then sort of try…but honestly if you had a serious health issue you would either avoid it or commit and that’s ok. If you don’t really want to break out – make a change that’s long term and will get results…then just stay as you are. Don’t waste that energy being negative. Embrace your life in jail. You got yourself into this, so no self-pity! If you want out, then call me. Make an appointment to change. Say you’re responding to this. You really want out? Call or email. Best wishes,...

PLEASURE equals EFFORT

I am sorry to say, but in order to have pleasure you need to make the effort. If you want to drink that extra drink, have a cookie, loose weight, find the time for the massage, or buy the watch you want but don’t need. It all requires effort. Making time in your day to exercise, even if it means you walk to work and do the steps. Rise early and get to work earlier, so you can leave and get the extra workout in, or the massage. Or, working on the weekends, especially if you earn by the hour, so you can save for that purchase you want. But, you can make it pleasurable. Especially, if you want to lose weight or get more fit. Instead of collapsing on the sofa after work, invite someone you know, who needs to move, for a walk in the park. A Citi Bike ride. Or a duet session. No matter how tired you are, you will feel better. Try...

Life

We wake up every day with plans, goals, intentions, and responsibilities. For our eating and exercises, some of us make plans and some don’t. Either way, life has a strange way of creating unexpected chaos. The key is how we handle it. In my case, the unexpected chaos is when staff don’t show up for work or they are late. For others, it can be much more traumatic. Much like our eating and exercise, when it does not go as planned (for whatever reason, you ate too much, drank too much, etc…) the success is being able to rein it in. Move on. Like I say, onwards and upwards! Life is what it is. Don’t let it ruin you. Text or email me for help. Plan the next meal and book your next...

It’s My Day

We had Father’s Day last month. And as I posted on our Instagram, Victor and his son working out together that when parents work out and, in a healthy way, encourage their children to do so with them, I see them grow up to be far more active, disciplined and healthy. For Father’s Day, we take care of our fathers. How about you have a “you day”? Every day. Take care of you. Workout. Eat healthy. Do a workout with your friend, father, mother or just you. Everyday is your day at Brownings Fitness. Come celebrate...
